Le siguen 'Dunkerque', de Christopher Nolan, con ocho nominaciones y 'Phantom Thread', Blade Runner 2049 y 'Star Wars: Last Jedi' – estas dos últimas sobre todo por las categorías técnicas–, con siete. 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri', la gran favorita junto a La forma del agua, se ha tenido que conformar con seis nominaciones, las mismas que 'Darkest Hour'. Los nueve largometrajes nominados a mejor película han sido 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri', 'Darkest Hour', 'Call Me By Your Name', 'The Post', 'Lady Bird', 'The Shape of Water', 'Dunkerque', 'Phantom Thread' y 'Get Out', filmes que han destacado como favoritas en todos los certámenes salvo en el caso de Get Out', la gran sorpresa en esta categoría. Entre las grandes ausentes en esta categoría se encuentran 'I, Tonya', cuya protagonista, Margot Robbie, tiene muchas opciones de premio en la categoría de mejor actriz principal, 'Okja', que cuenta con el hándicap de los prejuicios hacia las producciones estrenadas online (en este caso en Netflix) y 'The Disaster Artist', que comenzó la temporada como una de las grandes favoritas y que finalmente solo se ha colado en la categoría de mejor guión adaptado, probablemente lastrada por las acusaciones de acoso sexual a James Franco. La 90ª edición de los Oscar tendrá lugar el próximo 4 de marzo, en el Dolby Theatre de Hollywood de Los Ángeles (California) y estará conducida por segundo año consecutivo por Jimmy Kimmel. Los premios de la Academia de Hollywood se emitirán en directo en Estados Unidos por la cadena ABC.
